3. Timing
is important because it keeps us focused and gives us structure.
*Divide 60 minute period into 15 alone, 30 in groups, 15 alone
*Write estimated times for each section on lesson plan
*Limit number of transitions from one activity to another
*Have time frame on boards for students to see daily agenda
*Time at the end to summarize, to get student reflections
*Be flexible! If students aren't getting it, modify schedule. if they get it soon, modify schedule.
*Do Now - first 15 minutes - structure
*Student understanding of goals for day/week/cycle/semester
*Prompt 5 minutes to write, everyone must write for 5 minutes.
