2. Explicit Instructions - written out for students
are important because they give clarity and direction for students to complete assignments successfully
*activity- students need to listen/read instructions to create a picture that's being described without ever seeing it.
*Make step by step directions (including things such as "sit with partner". When students ask for help ask them "what step are you up to"?
*Using prior work models to focus group on creation of final product.
*If product/work is long term, give them daily progress expectations
*Give mini-grades for the small parts of long term projects.
*Write instructions for student in language they understand
*Have students write directions in their own words
*Give students more than one way on different occasions to do the same thing utilizing different learning modalities.
